Our Family's Journey

Humble Beginnings

Our founder and owner, Yin, was born in a small fishing village on the outskirts of Hong Kong China. Yin, otherwise known as ‘Grandma’,  grew up in a small one bedroom home. Grandma shared the one bedroom with her adopted mother and twelve other siblings! (Home pictured to the right and below) In the early 1960s Grandma met her husband Wing Gong (Grandpa). After getting married and having two kids Grandma and Grandpa decided to take the leap and move to the United States. Both barely knowing the English language, they worked for a family who owned a Chinese restaurant in Novi.

The Leap

In the early 1960’s Grandma met her husband Wing Gong (Grandpa). After being married and having two kids Grandma and Grandpa decided to take the leap and move to the United States. Barley knowing any English the couple was able to work for family who owned a Chinese restaurant in Novi.

Our Own Legacy

After almost a decade of working in Novi, Grandma and Grandpa learned English and saved enough money and to open their own restaurant. They moved to Flint in 1983 and shortly after opened their own business in 1984. Shortly after opening doors tragedy struck. As soon as Grandma and Grandpa achieved their life goal of owning their own business in America, Grandpa fell ill and passed away. The duty and responsibility of running the restaurant fell on the Yue children. The Golden Moon has been owned and operated by those kids ever since!
